Introduction
Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) was formed by Nepalese people residing outside Nepal after organizing the first global conference in Kathmandu in October 11-14, 2003. By definition, a NRN is person living abroad excluding South Asian countries for more than 6 months. This thus includes students, workers, asylum seekers, refugees and settled people of Nepalese origin. NRNA has an international committee known as NRNA ICC (International Coordination Council) and several national committees known as NRNA NCCs (National Coordinating Councils). This is the largest global network of its kind which represents for about two million non-resident Nepalese people residing outside Nepal. Today, it has established its national chapters (NCCs) in over 50 different countries including Norway. The main slogan of NRNA is “For Nepali by Nepali” which goes far beyond complaining about the bad system and existing problems in the country, but it rather asks for our contributions to Nepal. In Norway, an adhoc committee was formed in 2006 and finally NRNA NCC Norway got is full shape after its first annual meeting in May 18, 2008.

Objective

  1. To create  a  common forum and foster closer co-operation among the Nepalese people living in Norway
  2. To work for the promotion and protection of the interests, rights and cultures of the Nepalese living in Norway
  3. To facilitate any developmental projects or investments made by Norwegian government and other concerned organizations in Nepal
  4. To join hands with NRNs all over the world in assisting Nepal for its development and in fighting for our rights as NRNs
